Risk Assessment
All projects carry in them a certain level of risk, from the small to the silver screen. It’s unavoidable. To effectively address the hazards and risks within a project, they must first be properly identified. That’s where we come in. Using experience gleaned from more than 30 years in safety and risk assessment, and a unique blend of skills developed over the last 25 years in both the insurance and entertainment industries, we can review your script and locations to help identify hazards and to recommend precautions including:
- Risk Control Review of Scripts and Treatments to Identify Risk and Recommend Precautions
- Risk Assessments for Hazardous Activities, Remote Locations and Adverse/Severe Weather
- Country Risk Reports to help identify Crime, Terrorism, Disease and Health Care Risks and recommend risk control measures.
We look at the effects, stunts, shooting location, country of operation, and a host of other factors in order to identify potential dangers to the safety and wellness of you, your cast & your crew, and your equipment so that you can go into production fully informed of the risks.
Safety Consultation
Communication is everything. Once the assessment is complete and we’ve been able to determine the dangers and vulnerabilities a production may face, whether it’s the big car chase or the narrow mountain road to the shooting location, we’ll be able to recommend safety precautions to help you reduce and control those risks through a combination of in-office and onsite consulting both during pre-production and filming including:
- Liaison with Regulatory Authorities
- Tech scouts
- Facility Assessments
- Contingency Planning
- Safety Guidance
We’ll work with the production team to ensure that all the risks identified during the assessment are communicated to all so that everyone has a comprehensive understanding of the potential hazards and how they can best be prevented or mitigated for a successful production. The result? Improved safety for you, your cast, and your crew. And, in many cases, better insurance terms so you have more budget to spend where it counts.
Contingency Planning
No risk can be mitigated fully. You cannot see everything. Accidents can happen. Incidents will sometimes occur. Sometimes, Plan “A” is not enough. When that happens, it is critical that you have a strong contingency plan in place in order to effectively respond to the situation. Sometimes, lives will even depend on it. We’ll help you develop a “Plan B” for those moments when your “Plan A” goes awry. We’ll be able to assist you with contingency plans for:
- Natural Disasters
- Security Emergencies
- Medical Evacuation
In the event that an incident occurs, the experience and temperament to guide the split second decision-making during times of crisis is paramount. We’ll be able to direct emergency shutdown and evacuations with the goal of keeping production personnel and assets safe and smoothing the resumption process to minimize down time so that you can get back to doing what you do best… making movies.
Incident Investigation
When an incident occurs on your production you’ll want to know why as quickly as possible to minimize the time it’ll take you and your crew to get back to work. We’ll investigate the cause of the incident and suss out the events leading up to it and advise you on resumption of production following a loss. We’ll work with the appropriate civil units and insurance personnel in order to resolve the issue with the appropriate care and speed.
OSHA, HSE, and other health and safety regulations require incident/accident investigations to identify causes and the measures needed to reduce recurrence. Chris has the experience needed when it comes to advising productions to speed resumption of work following the events of natural disasters and other losses.
